We've officially launched "Cycling 4 Women presented by Canadianyclist.com"

Canadian Cyclist has always provided in-depth coverage of women's cycling in Canada, but it sometimes gets buried among the thousands of items we publish every year.  Cycling4Women.ca allows us to separate out the women's-specific coverage we produce for readers interested primarily in that area, and to increase the amount of coverage we provide.  In addition to news, Cycling4Women.ca will offer product reviews, feature and interviews and discussion venues; a community for cycling women.

Leigh Hargrove has joined the team as Women's Editor. Hargrove is a past National team member and has been writing about the sport since 1995 as a freelance journalist. Her passion for cycling is contagious and Canadian Cyclist is excited to have her on board. She will be writing features and helping to oversee the growth of the site.

"We all know that cycling changes lives and does so in such a powerful and magical way - and we want to see more women become involved in the sport who then stay involved." Hargrove comments.

"Often women cyclists may get intimidated or discouraged by the technical side of the sport or from the lack of other women to ride and race with - we hope to help change that by becoming the hub for information to unite cyclists across the country in promoting the sport to women."

This means making it easier to access resources, tools, clubs, information and the stories and people that will inspire them to learn more about our sport and become better cyclists.

Cycling 4 Women wants to help spread the word about programs that are available to women across North America but more importantly - right here in Canada. We want to tell you about the programs that are working and perhaps those that are not working - just so you can learn or become inspired and apply such knowledge to your existing local programs.

Hargrove is excited about her new task. "It's been a long time coming, so we have had some time to dream big and we're just getting started. Being backed by Canadian Cyclist is a big deal - at the very least, you know you're getting the information from a trusted source and you know that we're going to be around for a long time to continue to bring you regular, helpful and inspiring news, stories and event coverage geared to help and inspire female cyclists everywhere."

Please tell us about your programs, events, and the people that you think are helping promote the sport of cycling to women, email leigh@canadiancyclist.com
