Ride off with some cash at the Ontario MTB Marathon Championships

Cash prizes for the top Marathon riders are expected to be a big draw for this year's Ontario MTB Marathon Championships on 12 September 2010 in Mansfield. The top three placers in the Marathon men under 40, men over 40, women overall and singlespeed categories of the Championship race will share a $1,200 pot. (More details can be found at substanceprojects.com in the technical guide for the event.)

"MCI The Doctor's Office, our main sponsor, have been really supportive this year, and we wanted to enhance the excitement of the Marathon Challenge series finale and give something big to the top riders," explains Dan Marshall, founder of Substance Projects, the event organizer.

"The race will be tons of fun, and have lots of singletrack. The Marathon course will chanllenge riders, and the Half Marathon is great for riders of all levels," continues Marshall. "Our website www.substanceprojects.com will have all the course details within a week and a half of the race."

There's also a free post-race barbeque for all participants, and a free t-shirt for those who pre-register for the event by 6 September, the Monday before the race.

The Ontario Marathon Challenge is garnering accolades for its original course designs that boast plenty of flow and just the right mix of technical and fun. The Marathon category, running between 60 km and 80 km per race, is known as a great endurance ride, while the Half Marathon at 30 km to 40 km offers a fun challenge for more novice riders or a great workout for experts.
