MEC Bikefest is a daylong community celebration of all things bicycle related. Our goal is to bring together Burlington's bicycle community and those new to bikes, to celebrate the wonders of cycling. Come join us and make it the best bicycle bash in Burlington.

This free event has something for everyone, so bring the whole family down to the sweetest cycling celebration of the summer.

MEC Bikefest Burlington features activities for cyclists of all skill levels:

• Bike clinics and seminars
• Local bicycle retailers
• Bike demos
• Free safety and helmet checks
• Free minor bike repairs on-site
• MEC Bike Swap
• Bicycle donation drop-off
• Bike valet parking
• Community information
• Free drop-in activities for kids
• Face painting
• Family bike ride
• Morning pastry ride
• Gear giveaways
• Food vendors

MEC Bikefest Burlington happens downtown at Spencer Smith Park on the west end. Ride your bike to the festival, there will be bike valet parking on-site.

You don’t need your own bike to take part in MEC Bikefest - there will be lots of demo bikes available.

Even kids will find bikes to ride at the Kids' Bike Station. However, for some of our clinics and all of our rides you will need to have your own bike and helmet to participate.

MEC Bikefest happens rain or shine so please dress for the weather. Be prepared for both warm temperatures and rain. Food and snacks will be available for purchase, or you are welcome to bring your own. And don't forget your water bottle.

Participation in MEC Bikefest Burlington is free and open to all ages and skill levels. You must pre-register for clinics. Please note that you must be 14 years old to participate in any adult clinic.

Participation in our group rides and tours is free, but to guarantee yourself a spot, you'll need to pre-register for these events as well.

Registration openened on May 30 in the MEC Burlington store, or by phone at 905.333.8559. Registration will close June 24 at 9:00 pm and re-open at MEC Bikefest at 8:30 am on June 25. On the day of the event, any open spots will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Clinics that will be offered include:

• Basic bike repair/maintenance
• Safe cycling in the city
• Tips and tricks for cycle touring
• Introduction to mountain biking

Be sure to check back for a schedule of events, including clinics, groups rides, and tours.

MEC Bike Swap

If you are looking for used bikes and cycling gear or have used bikes or gear you would like to sell, MEC Bike Swap is the place to go. Bike Swap runs in conjunction with MEC Bikefest and will operate from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm on June 25.

What can be sold? Used, demos, seconds, or sample gear and/or bikes. For retail vendors, no old or current stock is to be sold at MEC Bike Swap.

If you have bikes or cycling gear to sell, please stop by the MEC Burlington store and fill out a booth application, or email cmaich@mec.ca for more information.

MEC provides the space and one table per booth. Booth holders bring all other necessary materials and provide their own staff for the duration of the event. Booth fees are just $10 for individuals or non-profits, and $50 (refundable) for retail/wholesale shops. The deadline to sign up for a booth is June 15.
