April 17/12 9:49 am - John Henry West Coast Super-D

Posted by Editoress on 04/17/12

Since 2009, West Coast Racing has put on the Super-D in Belcarra, BC, and with each year, we enjoy a better course, more racers, and better prizes, with sponsorship from John Henry Bikes, Norco, Ryders Eyewear and RaceFace. There is no better way that we know of to kick off the race season than this race. Each year, we get loads of people out to enjoy some of the best early season riding on some of the best trails BC has to offer. The event is all about a great vibe that comes with a down-home, grass-roots, mud-slingin’ event like this one.

The Super-D format is the great equalizer in racing: downhill sections designed to challenge DH pros, and climbs straight out of the XC catalogue, all wrapped up in a race that most riders blitz through in around 15 minutes. This race is one of the most fun and exciting courses of all the local races, and includes one climb, as well as descents to challenge you.

Strategy is huge in this race, with every split second essential to getting through the course as efficiently as possible. Most racers pre-ride the course a few times before the official start in order to get their lines figured out and locate the best lines as the course is taped with multiple choices throughout the track. A practice run is highly recommended to put in a good time!

In previous years, it has come down to less than a second separating the winning times and it can truly be anyone’s race - XC or DH equipped, so choose your weapon wisely...

We will see you on April 22nd this year at the top of Belcarra for the most fun you can have covered in dirt.

For registration, and all the details on the course, including maps and elevation graphs, check out the West Coast Racing web page at www.westcoastracing.ca under ‘Race Events’ => ‘2012 Super-D’.
