The countdown has officially begun to Canada’s top mountain bike festival, and this year’s edition is shaping up to be hotter than ever! For the first time ever, Vélirium presented by Videotron, will be held in downtown Québec City and at Mont-Sainte-Anne over a long weekend from Thursday, August 8th, to Sunday, August 11th, in less than a month from today!

The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Weekend presented by Shimano starts with a bang as Vélirium takes to downtown Québec City for the urban event of the summer: City8 presented by Videotron! A blend of music, extreme sports, and live entertainment, City8 is a Silver event on the prestigious Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour.

The FMB family hosts well-known events such as the X Games, the Red Bull Joyride, the Red Bull Rampage, and Crankworx. The City8 competition will feature some of the world’s best Freestyle riders, such as the Canadians Matt MacDuff, Mitch Chubey and Brayden Barrett-Hay. A crowd of thousands of spectators is expected to cheer on the athletes on a Dirt and Freeride course designed by a certain Cameron Zink, well known for his work on the X-Games and the Red Bull Rampage. Meanwhile Jeremy Witek of Global Action Sports Solutions is all set to put together a jaw-dropping course!

The action will then move to Mont-Sainte-Anne on Friday, August 9th, as Pumptrack Epic takes center stage before an adrenalin-filled weekend gets underway with the UCI Cross-Country World Cup, the UCI Downhill World Cup presented by Videotron, the Veli-Kidz race, the Raid Vélo Mag, and tons more activities and parties in the Belle Gueule Lounge. All in all, close to 700 amateur and professional athletes will need all the endurance and daring they can muster to tackle the various Vélirium 2013 courses. It promises to be a not-to-be-missed weekend for all mountain biking and extreme sports fans!
