January 8/14 13:03 pm - Stevens Racing & Ottawa Velodrome Project Fundraising Dinner

Posted by Editoress on 01/8/14

Join other Ottawa area riders in support of the Stevens Racing Program and the Ottawa Velodrome Project. Proceeds from the evening will go towards helping the Stevens women and U25 men attend BC Super Week and the UCI sanctioned Delta road races, as well as the long-term funding of an indoor velodrome in the National Capital.

There will be a silent auction of items ranging from signed cycling memorabilia (such as a Catharine Pendrel World Champions Jersey), Massage and Chiropractic treatments, a catered dinner party, Ottawa Senators tickets and more.

Money from the evening will go towards supporting team riders attending BC Super Week, to give the team's development riders experience at the next level. Additional funds will go towards the long term development of a velodrome in Ottawa.

Both of these initiatives are part of fostering a cycling community of excellence in the region. Last season the Stevens Racing p/b The Cyclery Teams, won five medals at the Canadian Road Cycling Championships, six medals at the Canada Summer Games and had five riders represent Canada on National Team Projects.

Opportunities such as racing Super Week give riders the sort of valuable learning experiences that make bike riders into bike racers - similarly building a track in the area will provide the community with an amazing learning and training facility- at a perfect time as track racing is gaining momentum across Canada.

Date: January 25th, 2014, 6:30 pm
Where: St. Anthony’s Banquet Hall, 523 St. Anthony Street, Ottawa
