The Community Services Department is currently accepting applications for 1 full-time position of Supervisor, Recreation - Cycling and Events. Reporting to the Manager, Sport & Corporate Partnerships, this position is responsible for the operation of the Cycling Track, related cycling operations and event services at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre (MNCC). The successful candidate must be able to work variable hours including evenings and weekends.

Major Job Responsibilities

• Acts as a primary liaison and maintains strong working relationships with key facility tenants and partners, including national and provincial sport organizations, relevant community groups, business operators and stakeholders in relation to cycling operations
• Allocates cycling track space while working closely with the Facility Scheduling Administrator to coordinate the usage of the track in relation to the other facility spaces
• Liaises with the Canadian Cycling Association, Ontario Cycling Association and Milton Cycling Academy to assist with coordinated and seamless service delivery within the athlete development model
• Works with Facility Services to ensure facilities and services fully satisfy the requirements of cycling and non-cycling events ranging from local recreational use to international and world events
• Ensures that all commissaries and officials utilized for racing events have their required training and certifications as required by the PSO and NSO; maintains accurate data base to validate on an on-going basis
• Oversees the timing/scoring system for all internal events and liaises with external groups to assist with their timing and scoring needs
• Oversees the MNCC volunteer program including recruitment, training, development and scheduling
• In conjunction with the Milton Cycling Academy, develops and oversees school based cycling programs including actively pursuing schools to participate in programs at the MNCC during off-peak hours
• Responsible for the delivery of bike rental services to cycling participants
• Administers the recruitment, training, supervision, performance evaluation and recognition of a large work unit including bike mechanics, racing officials, event staff and volunteers
• Processes part-time staff payroll and other administrative requirements
• Authorizes material and supply purchases as well as reconciles credit card purchases
• Recommends financial controls and revenue generation initiatives to Manager
• Establishes and maintains partnerships with identified cycling sport governing bodies to encourage their maximum use of the facility to meet agreed upon objectives
• Works with the Milton Cycling Academy (MCA) to develop the volunteer capacity required to host events
• Maintains current knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations and related policies for drop-in cycling based on best practices and industry standards
• Maintains ongoing communication with program, facility and customer service staff to ensure safe, coordinated service delivery
• Ensures that health and safety procedures are followed at all times for both staff (Occupational Health and Safety Act) and participants
• Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with department objectives

Education and Experience

• Post-secondary degree/diploma in Recreation and Leisure or a related field
• Minimum of three (3) years' experience working in a recreation environment including experience with cycling, track allocation, bike rental operations and supervision of staff/volunteers
• Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience of recreation staff and programs
• Experience working in a Velodrome environment is considered an asset
• Experience in hosting and organizing events (cycling and non-cycling related) with partners/clients
• Experience in event marketing and ticket sales for major events
• Knowledge of leisure or sports management including principles of sport development
• Working knowledge of Health & Safety, child protection and environmental regulations
• Strong problem solving, negotiation, organizational and time management skills
• Excellent interpersonal, public relations and communication skills
• Ability to simultaneously oversee multiple projects within a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of facility and risk management is considered an asset
• Proficient in Windows based software including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Publisher. Experience using CLASS registration software is considered an asset
• Municipal government experience and knowledge of the Milton community is considered an asset
• A valid Ontario Driver's License with a driving record that demonstrates responsible/safe driving behavior as use of a personal vehicle is required

Salary Range: $59,629 - $74,537
