St. Davids Hydroponics continues with great local support as the presenting sponsor of the Classic, renamed in 2016 to honour Canada's cycling legend Steve Bauer.

Road cyclist racers will travel from Ontario, Quebec and the eastern USA to compete in the Steve Bauer Classic p/b St. Davids Hydroponics over its renowned race course in the Town of Pelham with the repetitive and challenging Saylors' Hill reaching 14.8% grade.

Men and women elite racers will lined up at the start line on Effingham Street. The Classic is always a great venue for Ontario clubs and trade teams to showcase budding junior talents and master's classes. The challenging course of the Classic is ideally positioned on the spring calendar for racers to test their form against their adversaries a month prior to the Canadian National Road Championships.

Cycle Sport Management Inc. and the St. Catharines Cycling Club are beaming with pride that the 2021 Canada Summer Games will be hosted by the Niagara Region and segments of the Steve Bauer Classic race course are likely to be utilized for the 2021 Canada Summer Game's proposed road cycling course. Cycle Sport Management is working closely with the Niagara Sport Commission to fulfill a great event in 2021.

Canadian cycling great, Steve Bauer, who is now the Director of V.I.P. Services for the ProTour BMC Racing Team, personally designed and enhanced the 2017 Steve Bauer Classic course. "This is a very exciting time of the year for me to have my name associated with the Niagara Region, the Town of Pelham and my home club the St. Catharines Cycling Club. It's fantastic to learn the Niagara Region will have the honour to host the 2021 Canada Summer Games," commented Bauer.

Wally Tykoliz, President of the St. Catharines Cycling Club says "Steve Bauer has created a cycling renaissance in our passion, the sport of cycling and we are excited to be working alongside of Steve Bauer and Josee Larocque in providing a professional racing experience in the Town of Pelham."
