Posted by Editoress on 02/28/20

The FELT Bicycles Gravel Cup Canada Cycling Series p/b euro-sports is back for it's third year with 8 challenging events from April to October offering longer "Challenge" and shorter "Sport" courses taking place primarily in the Ottawa Valley. New for 2020 is our marquee "R3G3" gravel grinder, and a Southern Ontario event, the "Kawartha Rube-eh?".  Although most of the participants just ride for fun the competitive cyclists will be battling over the series yellow jersey until the final ones are awarded along with their names being inscribed on the Gravel Cup.

Also back is the 2nd annual "unofficial" Canadian National Gravel Championships on Saturday September 19th at McGregors Orchard in the Ottawa Valley township of McNab/Braeside. All categories, Elite, U23, Junior, & Masters are on the table for their own championship jerseys and podium (men/women). This year the event is on a 34km spectator friendly loop that includes stone-dust rail trail, double track rail trail, a summer maintained farm road, treed gravel, open gravel & a short 1km unmaintained section. A one lap "sport" non-championship route is available for anyone who just wants to go for a ride & be part of the event. The festivities will be enhanced by coverage via a live-stream feed available anywhere & broadcast at the event. Last years event was won by former National Road Champ Bruno Langlois & top Canadian cyclocross rider, Natasha Elliot.

The May 23rd "Renfrew Rough Rider Griffith Gravel Grinder" (R3G3) is our new marquee event. Headquartered in Griffith, the event uses a network of "Forest Access Roads" in the highlands of the Ottawa Valley. The "Challenge" distance is 168km, with 100km, 60km & 17km distances also available. Joining as special guests will be the King of Gravel, Ted King and Canadian Cross Champion, Maghalie Rochette.

After a hiatus the August 1st "Kawartha Rube-eh" has returned under the Gravel Cup banner as our only Southern Ontario leg. Located just north of Lindsay the event uses the Victoria County Rail Trail, the Somerville Tract ATV trail, and many others in the beautiful City of Kawartha Lakes.

The series offers something for everyone whether you're a racer, adventurer or recreational cyclist. (Day Permits are available) Timing, photos, aid stations & ATV support are all included at all events & the R3G3 has a meal and beer included as well.

Early Bird Pricing is in effect until February 29th & get a further 15% discount of the 7 event series with registration in the marquee stand alone R3G3.
