August 28/20 10:39 am - Register for Greg's Ride (Ontario)

Posted by Editoress on 08/28/20

Greg's Ride started in 2006 the year that OPP Sgt. Greg Stobbart was killed on Tremaine Rd in Milton, by a careless driver. The Ride started small - to commemorate, celebrate and to gather together and in the process raise funds to build the organization founded in Greg's memory - the Share the Road Cycling Coalition (STR).

Your attendance at Greg's Ride over the years and your support of the Coalition has helped STR to make a significant impact in communities across Ontario - and at the Ontario Legislature: several changes to the Highway Traffic Act (Greg's Law, One-metre safe passing law, Careless Driving Cause Death legislation) - and some of these laws were the first of their kind in Canada. These changes, together with over $200 M in cycling infrastructure funding and STR's ongoing Bicycle Friendly Communities program and workshops with municipalities, have helped make roads and communities safer.

After much consideration, thoughtful planning - and a little help from STR friends and sponsors like CAA South Central Ontario -- STR is hosting a "Socially Together, Physically Distant" Ride this year on September 19th and 20th for distances of 50/100/160 kilometres. STR has worked hard, together with Adam Ruppel at Chico Racing, to develop this event that prioritizes safety. STR would love you to attend - and bring (up to 10) friends that you love to ride with, friends in your "bubble", because there is nothing like a great ride, with great friends. Or you may decide to come on your own - which is just great too.

You can find all of the information at www.gregscycleforkids.com/.
