Position: Community Development Coordinator

Job Description:
The Community Development Coordinator (CDC) will develop communication, do research, and plan a wide range of events relating to the CAO's community outreach development strategy. This role will be an integral part of the CAO's central team, focused on serving Ontario's smaller communities and special interest groups.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Executive Director the Community Development Coordinator will:

* Develop a range of communication resources that promote and build awareness of opportunities for community coach development in Ontario including website content, newsletters, course schedules, program packages, brochures and an event calendar.
* Conduct research projects (market analysis, needs assessment, and best practice evaluations) to meet the needs of coaches at all levels in all sports and all parts of the province.
* Co-ordinate scheduling and logistics planning for the CAO's community programs such as "Coaching the Coaches" speaker series, "Ontario Coaches Week", coaching conferences, and other community coaching related recognition programs and other opportunities to support coach-learning opportunities.
* Represent the CAO on committees and Provincial and Multi-sport partners on coaching development projects.
* Build relationships with resource partners, such as; provincial and community sport organizations, government ministries, sponsors, and suppliers. Activate communication channels with local community coaches across the province.
* Work independently establishing workload priorities and provide regular portfolio reports (Community Outreach Program) to Board members, and funding agencies as requested
* Direct the work of administrative staff, program volunteers or contracted project consultants as needed.
* Provide input from "field experience" and assist in implementation of CAO's overall strategic priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS
* University or College Degree in coaching, sport administration, public relations, communication, or marketing, and related employment experience.
* A valid driver's license (to drive in Ontario) and willingness to travel in Ontario to perform the duties required of this position.
* In-depth knowledge of coaching and the Canadian sport system. Coaching experience and certification in the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) would be considered an asset.
* Demonstrated experience (minimum three years or more) in a leadership or project management role.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills demonstrating a high quality of writing, and editing as well as demonstrated experience with a variety of communication formats and styles e.g. newsletters ˆ online and print, event guides, promotional brochures, media releases, and website content.
* Thorough knowledge of market research, communication techniques and event promotion techniques.
* Proven ability working with volunteer Boards and Committees, ideally non-profit and community sport related.
* Above average comfort in public speaking and discussion facilitation. Mindset for community development and collaboration.
* Demonstrated analytical and organization skills as well as a flexible team player with a strong customer service orientation.
* Must have competent business office computer skills in addition to website content authoring, comfort level with graphic software packages to edit and produce promotional collateral as required.
* Bilingual skills would be considered an asset (English and French or other languages).

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Able to work in Canada. Available to work on a full-time, dedicated basis. Must have a valid driver's license.

HOURS OF WORK: This position requires a full-time dedicated commitment (40 hours per week), with flexibility to travel and attend occasional weekend or weeknight coaching events/meetings in different parts of Ontario.

Salary Range: $42 000 - $47 500
