Cyclissimo Cycling Club is pleased to confirm that it will be hosting three high profile cycling races in 2006. The highlight has been the Ontario Cycling Association's award of round 5 of its 8 race 2006 Ontario Cup Road Series championship to be held in the town of Aurora on August 6th, 2006. There will also be a 15km time trial to be held close to the town the following day, the Civic holiday.

The road race is expected to attract around 600 competitors with individuals and teams drawn from across Canada, the USA and even Europe to compete over distances of between 56km and 136km, dependant on the rider's classification. With its fast hilly and flat sections, the course is sure to entice riders of all levels.

Ontario Cup Road Series racing provides an exciting spectacle with average speeds in excess of 40km/h over the duration of the race, culminating frequently in dramatic pack finishes with around 25 riders being classified with the same finish time, only separable through the use of modern video recording equipment.

"We are proud to be able to bring this prestigious cycle race to the Aurora. It shows a high level of confidence in the club and the town in general in terms of the ability to host such a high profile event in the cycling calendar" said Jim Coppola, Race Director.

In addition to the road race and time trial events, Cyclissimo Cycling Club will also host Canada's only International Cycling Union (UCI) sanctioned cyclo-cross race to be held in Aurora on November 5th, 2006.

Proceeds from the events will go to support the development of the Regional Cancer Centre at Southlake Regional Health Centre. Cyclissimo Cycling Club plans to raise $80,000 in support of the development of facilities and services offered to cancer sufferers from within the one million people who reside in York Region and south Simcoe County.

In total, the event is expected to bring approximately 1500 visitors to the area and generate in excess of $120,000 of revenue for the town.

Cyclissimo Cycling Club has also established a cycling team for 2006 which comprises 6 Senior Elite Level and 2 Junior Level athletes as well as a team manager. The team operates under the rules of the International Cycling Union (UCI) and will compete in 30- 40 Provincial, National and select International races in Canada and the United States. Cyclissimo Cycling Club is seeking actively sponsors at all levels for the three races and the race team, including a title sponsor for the races, who would wish to be associated with this prestigious event which demonstrates the dynamic nature of Aurora's growing community. All contributions will receive a letter of acknowledgement to be used with their business taxes.

In 2005, the organizer of the Aurora cyclo-cross race was awarded the Canadian Cycling Association's 2005 Cyclo-Cross Organizer of the Year Award and will be an integral part of the 2006 race preparation. "With this level of expertise behind all three races to be hosted by Cyclissimo Cycling Club in 2006, we have high expectations that the outcome will be a very positive experience for all involved; the racers, sponsors and the people of the town of Aurora alike" add Coppola.
