The event went off successfully, albeit with small fields. The total of 82 riders was 5 shy of the best turnout for the Midweek Series. All races were well-contested and we saw some great teamwork in the Senior 3 event, with Evian Mississauga literally controlling everyone else and posting top 5 finishers. The women's and junior fields were disappointingly small, so we put them in with the 3's. Peter Mazur showed his class by eclipsing everyone and finishing almost a minute up on his own. Three of the women placed well up in the overall standings..

The senior 1/2 event was very fast, with constant attempts to break. Darko did his usual early thing with a couple of lone efforts, but no-one bridged and he was left out front to stew. The vital , 6 man break went with about 25km to go and all top finishers were in it. Joe Giuliano turned on the afterburneres and it gradually whittled down to 5, 4, and then three. With four laps to go, Joe finally shed Don Zuck, who had been very active throughout the race, and Simon Small and went on to take a well-deserved solo win. It's good to see him back on form after the illness following Beauce.

Special mention should go to the voluntees who helped with registration, sweeping, marshalling and lap counting and to the officials, led by Brad Day in his first role as chief. The Mississauga Respond Club, an emergency mobile radio grou, did the best job of traffic control, I've seen in a long time - all organizers should consider using these guys, they're cheap and effective.
