Joe Radench of Grande Prairie (GP) won the Cecil Lake 50 km road race, Sunday, in front of a big regional field of 25 riders. Joe had a time of 1:15:29 hours. The Blizzard's Robin Baillie was second at 1:16:38 and Pat Ferris won the field sprint for third at 1:18:25.

There was a big crowd of riders out under very nice spring conditions. The pace increased after the Trans-Pine Chapel. The duo of Robin Baillie and Joe Radench soon left the field behind. Radench put on the pressure at about the 40 km mark to get away to come in alone, for the early season win with Robin Baillie 1:09 minutes later.

There was a pack sprint of eight riders up next. Blaine Richter of GP started out the sprint with a kilometer to go. Pat Ferris followed him, then counter jumped away to get the third place at 1:18:25. Jaimie Kroschel of Dawson Creek was 4th, Blaine Richter 5th, Trevor Kolkea 6th, Roger St. Jean 7th, Robert Seitz of GP 8th and Dennis Seitz 9th, all at the same time. Trevor McDonell was 10th, 3 seconds later.
