In a editorial published in this morning's La Press Simon Drouin says he has good information that Bessette will announce her retirement in a press conference called for this afternoon.

There is much speculation as to whether the calling of the press conference is to announce that she will not race the World Cup this coming weekend, or that she will announce her retirement from road racing. Bessette has struggled this season after a shoulder injury suffered in a crash while training in Melbourne prior to the Commonwealth Games. Bessette had signed a contract with T-Mobile, the world's number one women's squad, and was expected to be one of the team's leaders in stage races such as the Tour de l'Aude. However, she did not race well at the Tour de l'Aude and pulled out prior to the end of the race, stating 'personal reasons'.
