This weekend is the third round round of the national Canada Cup series for Downhill in Mont Ste Anne, Quebec (the third round for cross-country was held last weekend at Hardwood Hills). Fraser Britton reports that it has been raining at Mont Ste Anne for the past week, and the prognosis for the weekend is ... rain, with severe thunderstorms added in for excitement.

The course has been revised from previous editions (and to take into account the wet conditions). While the finish is the same, some large berms have been added, and the riders say that it is a fast course - expect the top runs to be under three minutes.

As of yesterday evening there were 80 riders signed up for the Elite Men, with former world champion Nathan Rennie of Australia on the list. Rennie has arrived early to prepare for the World Cup here in two weeks time.
