The Forest City Velodrome Announces a Special Track Camp for Cadets

The goal of this camp will be to identify and select talent for the Track Nationals.

It is open to anyone, male and female in the 14 to 16 year age groups.
No track riding experience necessary!

The camp will be free and include the use of a track bike.

Date: Saturday and Sunday June 24th & 25th.

Schedule:
Saturday 2-4pm: Track 1 Learn to Ride for everyone.
This will also be a refresher for experienced cadet track riders.

Saturday 4-6pm: Cadets ride with the FVC VeloKids.

Sunday - time TBA: special instruction and training races.

Bring pedals, helmet, shoes, gloves, food & water.

Riders must pre-register by noon on Friday the 23rd.

24 Hours of Summer Solstice

Chico Racing will host the largest 24 hour mountain bike team relay in North America this weekend, June 24th-25th. With over 2,200 participants at the 24 Hours of Summer Solstice presented by Sporting Life, this weekend's race is packed with friendly competition, entertainment, camping and camaraderie celebrating the sport of mountain biking. The 24 Hours of Summer Solstice presented by Sporting Life is in its' 8th successful year.

Snowshoe Mountain's $40,000 Race Series Kicks Off this Weekend

June 23rd Snowshoe Mountain will kick-off one of the richest mountain biking race series in the country. Four weekends throughout the summer, the region's best riders will compete in the Powerade Race Series 2006 for a total of $40,000 in cash and prizes. Both dual slalom and downhill mountain biking disciplines will take place on different trails each of the competition weekends.

"Another exciting addition to this year's mountain bike program is the focus on racing. A new four-race point series will put $40,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs," said Trevyn Newpher, Snowshoe's Mountain Bike Programs Manager. "In recent years, mountain bike racing in the East has grown tremendously. Our commitment to provide one of the most exciting and rewarding race series will surely push this to the next level. There will be great riding, great events and a great time at Snowshoe's Mountain Bike Park!"

The series will consist of a variety of categories including: intro (first time racing), amateur (previous race experience) and elite (expert, semi-pro and pro rider status) in both men's and women's divisions. Sub-divisions, based on age will also be offered. The races will take place June 23 - 25, July 21 - 23, August 18 - 20 and September 8 - 10 The final weekend will act as the series finale and will run in conjunction with Snowshoe's Mayhem in the Mountains Mountain Bike Festival.

Cash prizes will total $25,000 with up to $2,500 up for grabs for the winner of a single race in select categories. Numerous prizes ranging from a Snowshoe season trail pass to a Kona downhill or freeride bike will also be awarded throughout each competition.

The downhill race entry fee of $45 will include an event t-shirt, trail and lift access throughout the weekend, a goodie bag and a chance to win great prizes. The slalom race entry fee will be $15 per participant. Female intro and amateur races will be free of charge. Spectators are invited to attend and take in some of the most exciting mountain biking action around.
