UCI Announces Record Number of Women's Trade Teams for 2007

The number of women's and continental teams registered by the International Cycling Union has significantly increased this year. Based upon the files received by the UCI from National Federations responsible for the supervision of teams in their country, the Road Commission has finalized the registration of women's teams and continental teams for the 2007 season.

UCI women's teams

The number of women's teams registered has risen to 42 compared to 28 in 2006. This represents an impressive rise of +50%.

In this category, new teams have been created in North America (four in the US and one in Canada - Expresscopy.com), Central America (one in Salvador) and in Eastern Europe (two in Poland and one in Russia).

The number of UCI (men's) continental teams registered is also on the increase: 135 this year compared to 125 in 2006. This represents a slight increase of 8%.
