The 2007 Redlands Classic, presented by PossAbilities came to a climatic conclusion today in the hills of South Redlands. In the end, Jelly Belly's Andrew Bajadali raced across the finish, clenching top honors.

The Stage 3 Beaver Medical Group Sunset Road Race was the final chance for teams to push to the front. Scott Moninger and his BMC team came to the line of defense for their lead in the general classification. Health Net, presented by Maxxis, and Jelly Belly had other plans as the stage race hit the first of 12 climbs, corners, and high speeds. Nine riders got away without Moninger represented in the break. When BMC started to fade, Health Net, presented by Maxxis rode to the font, keeping the tempo high. As they held on to their 20 seconds, Tim Johnson bridged across to make it two HealthNet Net riders at the front.

Back in town, in front of thousands of spectators, the five finishing circuit laps produced added excitement. Bajadali cruised to the overall first, while Health Net's Rory Sutherland took the stage race. HealthNet Net, presented by Maxxis won the team competition. Grand Terrace's resident Kayle Leogrande of Rock Racing held on for green sprint jersey honors, and Scott Moninger took the red climber's jersey.

This was Bajadali's first win at the Redlands Classic. "Motivation played a huge part," said Bajadali. "I wanted to step up and boost my team's morale. I couldn't have done it without my team. Alex Candelario pulled off and just killed it. It was all it took for me to take off. This is a career highlight for me."

The crowd was on edge as some of the country's top female riders powered through the finish line at the final stage of the women's competition at the Redlands Bicycle Classic as. Kim Anderson of T-Mobile closed the 3-day battle, seizing the 6.2 mile circuit course victory. Mara Abbott of Webcor took a close second with Amber Neban from STAHL/SC Velo closing off the top three.

The Sunset road course is 9 laps of a 6.2 mile distance of considerable climbing. "The race was incredibly fast with a lot of attacks prior to the first KOM climb," said Jill McLaughlin from ValueAct Capital. "It was a strong, fast race with no room for bad handling. It was strung out for the most part. Two laps into it Ina-Yoko Teutenberg and Tina Pic broke away and then a group of four others chased. There was a group of 20 that splintered into 10 riders and then the rest shadowed. It was a power race."
