British University Offers Cycling Program

The University of Derby in Buxton is now offering a specialization in a Bachelor of Arts programme which focusses on cycling coaching. The programme was development in conjunction with British Cycling, and is called: Sports Coaching (FdA) -Cycling Pathway.

From the programme description:

This course gives you a broad foundation in cycle coaching. In the first stage you'll cover practical activities, physiology, psychology and the social aspects of cycle coaching as well as getting an introduction to disciplines you'll develop later on.

Supervised work experience are central to the course and you'll be encouraged to use this chance to decide what you're particularly interested in - for your study and as a future career.

The second stage is a good foundation to go on to the final stage of a related degree. You'll produce a research-based assignment, with lecturer support and through independent study. Modules include: Applied Cycle Coaching, event specific Coaching and Mountain Biking.

Optional modules mean that you can specialise your studies, developing an in-depth knowledge of areas that particularly interest you. You'll also be encouraged to take National Governing Body awards.
