After a lengthy viral illness, mountain biking’s world champion Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå is on her way back to racing. A few days ago, she has gotten her doctor’s approval to restart her training schedule. Due to a gastrointestinal virus, the Norwegian had to endure a lengthy treatment with antibiotics. After her training camp in Italy, Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå is going to announce the exact date of her return to racing.

Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå is looking forward to being able to return to a professional athlete’s rhythm of life and she is confident that she will be able to rebuild her form. Yet it still is too early to determine an exact date for her return to racing. For the next two weeks, the Norwegian will be training in Northern Italy an then she is going to take a decision on when exactly she will rejoin the racing circus again.

Team manager Andreas Rottler is relieved by this latest course of events: «The exact time and place of Gunn-Ritas’s return to racing is not a priority right now. Instead, her health is by far more important to us, so she must not expose herself to racing-induced stress too early. During the most recent seasons, Gunn-Rita has achieved marvelous and numerous victories for our 'Multivan-Merida Biking Team' which we should not forget in such a situation – hence we grant her the necessary time for recovery», Rottler analyzes the situation.

All other members of the «Multivan Merida Biking Team» will be competing for national championships this weekend, the sole exception being Switzerland’s Ralph Näf, who had to forfeit the Swiss national championships in mid May due to an illness.
