The Olympic Oval National Cycling Centre was proud to host the 1st Annual Alberta Youth Track Championships at the Glenmore Velodrome, Calgary on August 30, 2007. The one day championships had riders participating in 6 different events – points race, 200m time trial, devil’s race, 500m/kilo, sprints, and scratch. 27 riders from ages 12 to 18, both girls and boys, participating in all events, giving many riders their first opportunity to race in some events, such as the match sprints. 2 riders even travelled up from the United States to participate in the Youth Championship (Jesse Marans – Momentum Cycling, Los Angeles, CA and Eric Rasche – Northwest Cycling Club, Houston, TX).

Congratulations to all the omnium winners – Stephen Andrichuk (Junior Men), Eric Rasche (U17 Men), Adam Todd (U15 Men), Krystyn Ong (Junior Women), Samantha Grover (U17 Women), and Annie Stadnyk (U15 Women)

The Olympic Oval National Cycling Centre would like to express our thanks to all of the sponsors that made this event a huge success. Bow Cycle gracious donated prizes for the event, while the Calgary Bicycle and Track League made the Glenmore Velodrome available for the championships as well as the 2 day camp before hand. Finally, a special thanks to all the parents that volunteered their time to help ensure a successful event.
