Finale coming up October 14th

After three intense weekends of racing the 2007 Ontario University Cup Mountain Bike season goes on a two week hiatus before the season finale at Boler Mountain, located in London, Ontario. So far the season has been very successful from an organizational standpoint, with more schools and riders getting involved than ever before. A sure sign that competitive cycling within colleges and universities is on the upswing.

The first three venues were Mansfield Outdoor Center, Hardwood Hills and Ganaraska Forest; an excellent variety of Southern Ontario mountain biking. A trend has become apparent after these races. Queen's , the 2005 and 2006 University Cup Champions continued their winning ways by pulling out a 163 point lead on the young University of Guelph team which has in only two short years risen from 12th place overall to 3rd place overall. With one race to go, Guelph has to pull of a stellar performance if they want to beat the much more experienced Queen's squad. In third place is the University of Toronto. Champions in 2004, Toronto has had an uncharacteristically slow season, likely due to the absence of several key riders. Toronto's role in the last race will likely affect how well Queen's and Guelph finish overall as well as the resulting championship. Complete standings going into the last race can be found HERE
