The Forest City Velodrome is pleased to announce that the FCV team of women track racers will be competing in the next 3 race nights at the London Ontario track. Over the past 6 weeks 9 young women have had a concentrated series of camps and skills sessions and are ready to try their hand at racing for the first time.

Team member Dina Ridha, indicated on Sunday afternoon that "we are ready to give some sprints and timed events a try. We want to improve, and learn to race in all events in the coming weeks. We are training together up to 3 nights a week at the Velodrome, gaining the track time and experience to race confidently at the 138m track".

Many of the women are from other sports. "We are continuing to recruit to improve the depth of the track cycling team. Eventually we would like to have 15 competitive racers competing weekly against other women and masters as the winter goes along" said another team member Amy Armstrong. "The learning curve has been as steep as the track., We have been practicing, standing starts, sprinting, and starting from the rail. We are really looking forward to the Omnium at the Devo Weekend in 2 weeks".

"It's been fun so far and we already have a fund-raising plan in place to acquire Team Kits and sponsors to allow us to race at the Burnaby Velodrome in the spring" commented Armstrong.

In addition to the women racing this weekend the FCV we will be dropping all admission in an effort to encourage race fans to come out and watch the racing action. "ITS FREE" this Saturday night. We want to show off our racers to new spectators who may not have had a chance to watch Track Cycling up close.

Saturday November 10th a full night of Sprints and Keirin events for all abilities from Cadet to Elite. It's FCV's "Night of Speed"

No Charge ........... No Excuses..... come out and support the Forest City Velodrome during "Fan Appreciation Night." Racing starts at 7pm sharp.
