Axel Merckx, former National Cycling Champion of Belgium, and Olympic Bronze Medallist (2004), is back on his bike and ready to ride the roads of Europe again.

This time instead of competing in the world’s top races Axel will be hosting a series of unique world-class cycling vacations for cycling enthusiasts starting with a 10-day boutique cycling tour in April 2008.

The Axel Merckx Cycling Tour will be an intimate affair, limited to just ten riders, and will cover up to 100 kilometers of terrain daily on routes made famous by the Amstel Gold, Fleche Wallone and Liège-Bastogne-Liège races.

Of course, a trip to Belgium with Axel would not be complete without a visit to his father Eddy Merckx' world renowned bicycle factory.Accomodation for the Tour will be first class, at the renowned Relais & Chateaux Hostellerie Saint-Roch, all of which combined will make this a trip of a lifetime.

Axel has future plans to expand his tours to some of the most spectacular & scenic areas of Europe, including some of the epic routes of the Tour de France.

"When you are thinking of spending your hard earned money on quite possibly the cycling dream trip of a lifetime personality is everything, and I couldn’t think of a better person to spend 10 days touring with than Axel Merckx." explained Philip Meyer, General Manager of the Relais & Chateaux Wedgewood Hotel & Spa in Vancouver BC who has had the pleasure of riding with many pro riders; retired, current, and up-and-coming.
