Nanaimo Super D

We are just under a month away from the first Island Cup Race of the season. The Nanaimo Super D will be held on March 8th, with registration starting at 9:00am and the race starting at 12:00pm. Registration will take place in the same place as last year, just up the road from the Wastelands Motocross track in Nanaimo, but with a new and improved course and format.

The map of the new course has been posted on our website (arrowsmithbikesnan.com/page.cfm?pageID=184). Any person wanting to race the Beginners category will be able to do so free of charge, however, they must purchase or be a member of a GRMBA affiliated club. The focus of the beginner category is on participation. There will be prizes for the winner's of the Intermediate men's and women's races and one dollar from each men's and women's entry will be going to the winners of the Expert category.

The changes for this year's race are as follows. It is much longer than last year, riders will only have to do one run, it is predominantly downhill with a few short steep uphill sections and the best part is the change in the start. Last year we started five riders at a time, this year it will be category mass starts.

This event along with the rest of the Island Cup Series will be a GRMBA sanctioned event, so you must be a member of a GRMBA sanctioned club. Club memberships will be available at the race site for a cost of $30 and the race entry will be $15.

Don't forget about the DH on March 23, the Marathon XC on April 20th (beginners race free again) and the School Age Super D June 1st.
