Cycling BC will be stepping up it's MTB program for Junior Racers in 2008.

We are planning on building on the successes of 2007 by Team BC Riders (with 5 National Champions and another 5 medalists) at MTB Nationals in the U-15, U-17 and U-19 categories.

Thanks to support from PacificSport we have already run 2 testing camps over the winter aimed at the top junior and U-17 racers in BC as well as a DH specific camp in Squamish.

The next Team BC Training Camp will be March 27-30. This is a XC specific training camp on the Sunshine Coast that will focus on specific race preparation for Team BC racers competing at the Canada Cups in Bromont and Mt Tremblant in May. Cycling BC will be supporting a small team at the first 2 Canada Cups to help our top riders qualify for World Championships.

Final selections for National Championships will take place in May and June leading up to a Pre-Nationals training camp at the Sun Peaks Canada Cup. From there Team BC will travel to Mt St. Anne for MTB National Championships.

We will also run a Development Camp later in the season to identify more riders for Team BC in future years.

The majority of the riders for the early season projects have already been selected based on results at Nationals in 07, but there is always room for emerging young superstars...Junior and younger aged riders who want to be considered for these high performance projects and future camps should contact Provincial MTB Coach Steve Lund at steve@cyclingbc.net and check www.cyclingbc.net for more info.
