Blizzard Bike Club

The Blizzard Bike Club has a busy 10 days ahead of them with their Spring Stage Race starting this Friday.

This Series is seven races over 10 days, including 2 Challenge Cup races. The last stage, Stage #7, is March 30.

Geoff MacDonald is the defending champion. He will be facing a number of former race winners including Pat Ferris who has won this race 4 times, Bob Andrews has won three, Robert Martens three times and Robin Baillie was the winner in 2006.

Barb Polehoykie has won it the last four years in a row for the Women and Colter Young is the Under 19 defending Champion.

The Spring Stage Race started back in 1987 to get the club riders into shape for the busy cycling season. It has been a very popular event ever since, despite the iffy weather spring often throws in.

There will be a contingent from Grande Prairie, Dawson Creek, Edmonton and Calgary to make the series faster and more difficult.

Stage #1 Friday race time is 10 am from the Beatton River Regional Park, and climb the tough Beatton Hill.

Stage #1 -10 am - Good Friday Hill Climb - 3 k - Beatton River Park and west, to the top of the hill.
Stage #2 -1 pm - Good Friday Road race -30 k (20 k flat race available) - (all paved) Beatton park- south to Alaska Highway - right turn on highway- right at Charlie Lake school- right at gun range and back to Beatton Park road. Do two laps and return to Beatton Park.
Stage #3 -1 pm - Sat road race: (all paved) 60 k (20 k flat race available) - Beatton Park - left at Montney Store-ride west to Alaska highway intersection- turnaround and return to Beatton Park via Montney Store.
Stage #4 -1 pm - Sun road race (all paved) 80 k (20 k flat race available) Humpty's to Alaska hwy - right on Beatton park road - right Montney store- back to Humpty's via Montney Creek steep hills.

Routes:
