Blizzard Bike Club - Spring Stage RaceFort St. John, BC

Grande Prairie's Blaine 'Cannonball' Richter is solidly in the lead of the Spring Stage Race with three races to go.

Stage #1 and Stage #2 races were both Challenge Cup events. The Blizzard's picked up 108 points to GP's 45 and Dawson Creek's 4.

Richter won three of the four opening events to lead with a solid 19 points. Pat Ferris and Geoff MacDonald are second with 9, Robin Baillie third with 7 and David Ferris 4th at 5 points.

Barb Polehoykie leads the Women with 20, Kathryn Fairweather second at 8, Marie Young third at 5 and Sandy MacDonald 4th at 4.





Stage #1 ˆ Beatton River Hill Climb 3 km (-11 degree's!) 1st Geoff MacDonald at 25:38, 2nd Blaine Richter 25:51 and 3rd Pat Ferris 26:44. Gary Hilderman had 26:59 for 4th and Bob Andrews 27:42 for 5th.

Stage #2 ˆ Beatton Park Circuit Road Race 30 km (-1 C ) 1st Blaine 'Cannonball' Richter 2nd Geoff MacDonald and 3rd Robin Baillie in a very close sprint finish at 59:02 minutes. 4th went to Pat Ferris at 1:01:00 and 5th Robert Martens of Calgary at 1:01:57.

Stage #3 - The 'Cannonball' rolled on to another win, Saturday, as GP's Blaine 'Cannonball' Richter won stage 3's Beatton-Montney road race. He won the 60 k event with a time of 2:03:07. Robin Baillie was second at 2:06:36 and David Ferris third at 2:15:40. Darren Guliov was 4th at 2:17:27 and Barb Polehoykie 5th at 2:17:33.

Stage #4 ˆ The Cannonball won third in a row, Sunday on the cold Montney out and back road race with a time of 1:17:53 hours for the 42 k event. Pat ferris edged out Bob Andrews for second at 1:19:12. David Ferris was 4th at 1:22:15. Barb Polehoykie picked up a win with 1:32:51.

Coming up:
Stage #5 ˆ 6 pm ˆ Tues Rocky Road Race starting at the old 'Zoo' at Taylor. This is a 16 km gravel road event.
Stage #6 ˆ 6 pm - Thurs Baldonnel time trial
Stage #7 ˆ 2 pm ˆ Sunday, Cecil Lake road race at 2 pm.
