Colter Young won Sundays tough and windy 65 km Beatton-Mile 62 road race. He did the distance in 2:08:08 hours. Robin Baillie was second at 2:11:50 and Pat Ferris third at 2:20:33. Billy Bucknall was 4th at 2:25:41 and Gord Harris 5th at 2:29:11.

Thirteen riders started out in the warm-ish, chilly wind. The trio of Colter Young, Robin Baillie and Pat Ferris pulled away from the pack at the 13 km mark. Ferris was dropped at the 25 k mark. Baillie was dropped at the 45 km mark with Colter Young coming in alone for the win.

Other times were Roger St. Jean 2:33:01, Barb Polehoykie 2:34:09, Richard Wood 2:47:11 and Sam Keats 2:47:12.

Kathryn Fairweather won the 40 km event at 1:20:01. Marie Young was second, 5 seconds back. Erma Stanonik 3rd at 1:20:12 and Ed Fornelli 4th at 1:35:00.

Coming up:

Thursday Baldonnel time trial at 6:15 pm .

Sunday is the 12th running of the 'King of Spring 'road race on the Montney / North Pine circuit. This fast 40 km road race is the first spring classic of the year. Stephen Ferris is the defending Champion, but will not be here as he is training in Arizona. Colter Young will lead the charge along with Robin Baillie to try for the win. Pat Ferris will also be trying for his first win in this race as he has com second or third eight times but has not won it.

Jolea Bilodeau will be out to defend her 'Queen of Spring' trophy win from last year. Past winner Barb Polehoykie and up and comers Kendra Young and Sandy McDonald will also be in contention.

Race time is at 2 pm
