New opportunity to partner with BC Cancer Foundation could win you a Trip to 2008 Tour de France
The 2008 edition of the BC Cancer Foundation's Westside Cycling Classic, presented by the Airey Group, goes Sunday, June 1st, with racers being invited for the first time to register as fundraisers in support of cancer research in B.C.
Online registration is now live at: www.cycleforcancer.com. This year, for the first time, racers can forego the registration fee and instead sign on to fundraise a minimum of $300 with colleagues, family & friends and raise funds for the BC Cancer Foundation, to support leading research at the BC Cancer Agency. All donations will receive a charitable tax receipt.
As fundraisers, racers are then eligible to win unique and exciting incentive prizes, including a private dinner and ride with Axel Merckx, Alex Steida, Trevor Linden and Ross Rebagliati. The prize for the top fundraiser is a deluxe trip for two to the 2008 Tour de France.
Set against the backdrop of the UBC endowment lands and Pacific Spirit National Park, the 2008 Provincial Road Race Championship will be a hard-fought battle on a 12km loop, along roads very familiar to local cyclists.
"This year we are anticipating riders coming to Vancouver from all over B.C., Canada and the Pacific Northwest," said event director Jonathan Wornell. "The BC Provincial Championships on this exciting new course will see the start/finish area return to the heart of the popular Point Grey Village, which is always a big draw for riders and their families."
This year's race will be followed by the 36km BC Cancer Foundation Westside Cycling Classic Community Ride in the afternoon, led by Merckx and friends Steida, Linden and Rebagliati, which will be a perfect opportunity to warm down safely with family and friends and have some fun!
The 2008 Westside Cycling Classic is a partnership between the BC Cancer Foundation and the Wedgewood Cycling Team. The BC Cancer Foundation raises funds to support research and enhancements to patient care at the BC Cancer Agency, throughout B.C.
