The OBC is putting on its 2nd annual road race in the Gatineau Park on July 24th

The Gatineau Park is a distinctive and unique feature of the National Capital Region. The parkway offers a 21 km loop which the National Capital Commission will close to motor traffic for the event.

Since 1971, there have been at least 3 national road championships held on this circuit. Independent observers have described it as the best road racing circuit in the world with its challenging terrain, beautiful scenery, and excellent road surface.

this year our budget is larger and we'll be having an awards banquet immediately after the race.

  • Quebec / North American sanction
  • A Quebec Veteran's Association Super Prestige Event
  • All races will start and finish at the Penguin Field picnic area.
  • Non-licenced racers are welcome to enter the novice category.
  • Prizes will be presented at 12:30 at Camp Fortune.
  • There will be a banquet at Camp Fortune following the race. Tickets for the banquet can be purchased for $ 10 - all are welcome.
  • Race kit pickup - Pecco's in Hull, 79 Laval Street, on Friday July 23rd and the morning of the race at the start.
  • Race day registration opens at 7:00 a.m.

Poley Thanks

Velo NB and the Kings County Wheelers would like to thank all the enthusiastic riders and teams who participated in New Brunswick's first Canada Cup MTB event at Poley Mt. this past weekend. A special thanks goes to all those who travelled from locations all across Canada. The positive attitude and good humour demonstrated by the racers, teams and fans helped make the event a joyful occasion.

In NB speak, it was some good party. Let's do it again soon. Good luck, good riding and good times to all those participating in next week's Hardwood Hills event and the rest of the 1999 Canada Cup Series.

P.S. Thankyou to the training riders who pointed out my Sooby-doo's flying hubcap loss on one of the many dashes down the Poley access road. I finally figured out what you were trying to tell me and picked it up an the way back. Merci Beaucoups.
