Blizzard Bike Club Fort St. John, BC

May 15th

Robin Baillie won a very windy 16 k Baldonnel time trial, Thursday night, with a time of 26:21 minutes. Bob Andrews edged out arch rival Pat Ferris by 3 seconds to get second place with 27:13 minutes. Roger St. Jean was 4th at 28:18 and Gord 'the Hammer' Harris 5th at 28:52.

Sandy McDonald was 6th at 30:05, Les Elliott 30:20, Richard Wood 31:02, Ed Fornelli 31:15, Ken Nix 32:02, Barb Polehoykie 32:38, Owen Giebelhaus 34:06, Sam Keats 35:39 and Russ Wilson 37:31.

Ken Johnson did 19:27 for the 8 km. Kelsey Johnson had 22:52 and Kyle and Sandra Johnson did 23:15.

Stephen Ferris and Colter Young are both in Saskatoon for the Bikes On Broadway stage race.

Sunday is the 24th running of the Blizzard / Phoenix 15 Mile time trial on the Montney ˆUpper Pine circuit. Last year, Robin Baillie smashed the course record to win the Blizzard Trophy, Jolea Bilodeau won the Phoenix Trophy for Women's and Colter Young was the repeat winner for the Under 19 Trophy.

Race time is 2 pm at the Montney Creek Pullout, on the North side of the hills.

Jane Thomson off to Quebec Thursday for 10 days with Team Ontario for MTB Canada Cups at Bromont and Tremblant.

Trevor and Emese won't be there for the Owen Sound group ride on Monday, May 19. Several members still plan to ride and because they want a longer work out, they are meeting at 17h00. Remember that it's a holiday and traffic might be heavy.

Tonight the women and men each rode their own competitions. It was the best turn-out so far, with 5 women and 9 men starting, as well as 2 in the youth 5km race. The weather was perfect and there were a number of personal bests.

Next week is the first of the 34km races, with the option of riding a 15km for those less enthusiastic riders.
