Kindree Out for the Season
From Neal Kindree

I have been forced to make the difficult decision to forfeit my position on the startline of the World Championship along with my goals of repeat wins at the Test of metal and U23 National Championship. My knee has become increasingly agitated over the past few weeks to the point that racing and training are not possible.

I have consulted with the specialist who has suggested moving the surgery up. He has placed me onto a short notice waiting list. Hopefully I will undergo minor arthroscopic surgery within the next few weeks, followed by rehabilitation and light riding. Although there remains uncertainty as to what exactly is causing the 'catching' and 'clicking' in my knee the diagnosis seems to be a cartilage tear. Oddly, I feel relieved and I am looking forward to getting onto the operating table and getting this problem resolved.

My goals in cycling are long-term and although I am deeply frustrated by this injury I intend to use this setback as an opportunity to come back faster and stronger.

I have been fortunate enough to attend the past three world championships and I regret my inability to attend this year's event. I wish all the best to my teammates and competitors throughout the remainder of the race season.
