2008-09 Friday Nights Under the Dome Racing Series

Featuring Olympians and World Championship medalists

The 2008-09 Friday Night Under the Dome Track Racing Series is the weekly race series starting Friday, October 3, 2008 at the Burnaby Velodrome. There will be ten race nights held before Christmas, making up the fall/winter series, and ten after making up the spring series. Racing is designed to be challenging and safe for the racers. Our goal is to provide top level racing and develop rider fitness and skills for all levels from Novice to Elite. Come out a race or watch. Friday Nights Under the Dome will feature Olympians and World Championship medalists such as Zach Bell, Gina Grain, and Svein Tuft.

Categories

Each Friday night we will have a minimum of two races for each category of Novice, C, B, and A. The lettered groups will be self seeded, however there may be cases where riders will be asked to upgrade or downgrade by the BVC coach. The Novice category will be the mandatory starting place for two sessions for each graduate of the LTRace program. Should a rider wish to remain in Novice after two sessions that will be allowed.

Licenses, memberships and fees

All Canadian residents must have a race license or BVC membership or Cycling BC affiliated club membership in order to race. US/foreign residents must have an international (UCI) race license in order to race on Friday nights or any BVC race events. Race fees are $10/night. There will be a 10 race fall/winter series cash purse for overall winners in A, B, and C, and then the same for the spring.

Start Times

Races start with Novice race at 6:30 PM and continue on as per set schedule. Sign-on for races will open at 5:30 PM and close at 6:50 PM. All races will start on time and we will be vigilant in keeping on schedule. The race schedule and program is subject to change at any time at the discretion of program coordinator, race organizer or chief official.

Series points

Series points will be tallied for A, B, and C categories with all races scoring top 5 places as follows, 1st - 7 pts, 2nd - 5 pts, 3rd - 3 pts, 4th - 2 pts, 5th - 1 pt. Ties will be broken by number of wins, then seconds then thirds. Team events such as Madison will not be included in series points.
