CCA Camp #4: Day 2

Reports by riders participating at the CCA Track Camp at the Forest City Velodrome

Day 1 of the Winter Nationals Training camp brought riders from all across Canada together under one building to train and improve their riding skills. Some high speed drills where on today's schedule with flying 200 meters, team kilometers and lap the field put the hurt in everyone legs. As a second year junior this lets me ride with the Elite riders and shows where I need to be in the future years to come for the upcoming Olympic games.

This track is nuts! The camp started out with a lap and a bit 200 meter dash. The locals showed their short track skills, but it took some of us time to adjust to the quick corners. All in all though I have learned lots since everything happens much quicker in a shorter track, it's helped some quick thinking skills and speed judgment.

Cordialement!

The training camp # 4 of the Canadian Cycling Association finished yesterday evening in London, Ontario. It was very informative and allowed us to develop our power on our bikes since the runway at London is 138 meters long. A track very small compared to tracks like the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles or that of Burnaby that are respectively 250 and 200 meters. We have a proud chandelle coaches attend the camp or Richard Wooles, Eric Van Den Eynde and Jim Glover. This is very encouraging to see organizations like the Quebec team that allow us as athletes to participate in camps like this one. We offer our thanks to the organization that we can make these camps. The London track is very fun to drive despite its small size. We can achieve high speed even if the G-force is enormous in the curves. It is wonderful for anyone wanting to improve its power on a bicycle. In addition, the number of athletes participating in the training was frankly very impressive and very encouraging for the future.
