The Coast Mountain Sports Mind Over Mountain Adventure Race (MOMAR) kicks off it's 10th season in Squamish on May 23rd with numerous local racers and strong community support.

"We've got many Sea-to-Sky regulars coming back, plus a big contingent of newbies", says Race Director, Bryan Tasaka. "Combined with the world-class local terrain and awesome community support, we are really excited about being back in Squamish this year." Adding to the excitement, MOMAR has received an exclusive permit to take this year's Squamish race into terrain that no organized event has gone before. "The new section of the course is nothing short of spectacular", says Tasaka, "and I can easily say that it will be the most jaw-dropping place we have ever taken MOMAR racers in our 27 race history."

Squamish resident and professional adventure racer Jen Segger has outdone herself once again in creating a breathtaking (in more ways than one!), first-rate course. Both the regular 'enduro' course (~50km) and shorter 'sport' course (~30km) include some of the best cross-country mountain biking in BC, navigation, bushwhacking, trail running, incredible viewpoint checkpoints, and an unforgettable rappel.

Local racers will be joined by close to 200 racers from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Washington State, Texas, and all over BC. With the help of local sponsors and partners (Corsa Cycles, Quest University, Bob Fast, the Chief and Question newspapers, Mountain FM, the Howe Sound Inn and Brewing Company, Squamish Rock Guides, Whistler Core Climbing Gym, and Challenge-by-Choice), MOMAR is sure to provide racers and volunteers with an unforgettable experience that will keep them coming back.

MOMAR is still looking for volunteers to assist on race day. All volunteers receive a MOMAR T-shirt, entry to our infamous post-race dinner and party and the thrill of experiencing adventure racing up close. For information on volunteering, contact sheron@mindovermountain.com.

Participating in a MOMAR, either as a racer or volunteer, also means you'll be supporting MOMAR's official charity, the Make-a-Wish Foundation. More information on racing, volunteering and MOMAR training clinics is available at www.mindovermountain.com or call 1.866.912.3331.

The 2009 MOMAR Schedule is as follows:

Coast Mountain Mind Over Mountain Adventure Race 001 May 23, 2009 Squamish, BC

Coast Mountain Mind Over Mountain Adventure Race 002 September 26, 2009 Cumberland, BC
