The 2009 XTERRA U.S. Pro Series ended exactly the way it began for Sundog Active Sports Eyewear Genuine Performer Melanie McQuaid. The native of Victoria, B.C., started with a win and just kept on winning, taking all six races in the XTERRA series. With her sixth straight win in Utah, McQuaid successfully defended her XTERRA USA Championship and her U.S. Pro Series title.

“This year the series was truly a challenge to find the best overall triathlete given the variety of the courses favoring different strengths,” said a jubilant McQuaid, three-time XTERRA World and five-time Canadian champion. “So, I couldn't be happier with how it ended.”

The grueling Ogden course, combining swimming, mountain biking and trail running, was even more challenging with its elevation change. The race started at 4,600 feet and ended at almost 8,000 feet. McQuaid’s victory is a testament to her training and dedication.

“Melanie defines Genuine Performance,” said John Whitney, Sundog Eyewear Director of Product Development. “She has followed last season’s fantastic performance with an incredible six straight wins in the hyper-competitive U.S. XTERRA races. We are very proud of Melanie and wish her all the best at the World Championships in Maui on Oct. 26.”
