The Nordegg Junior Mountain Bike Camp was held this past weekend. Twelve riders aged 14 to 18 enjoyed excellent riding at this camp, which has become an ABA tradition. Thanks to coach Steve McCarthy for his excellent work. Steve was assisted by Laurie Verburgh and Alyssa Ritchie.

-Race cancellation news: Regretfully, the Provincial Criterium Championship, scheduled for Sunday, August 8 have been cancelled. The organizer was unable to obtain road closures for the course. The ABA would eagerly entertain another application for the event. Possible dates include August 28-29, or the Labour Day weekend.

-Congratulations to our Pan-Am athletes and coaches. Under the guidance of Kurt Innes, our Olympic Sprint team, comprised of Doug Baron, Lars Madsen, and Jim Fisher finished fourth at the Games. In addition, Doug Baron raced an excellent Kilometer Time Trial en route to the bronze medal.

-Provincial Time Trial: To be held this coming Saturday, August 7, near Canmore, AB. The course will be an out and back route from Canmore to Seebe, on Highway 1A. More details will be available in a day or two.

-Provincial Road Race: Visit ( for details about this event.
