In 2010, the Grand Tour is offering cyclists a unique experience: a historic route following in the footsteps of Champlain. From New York State to Saint-Hyacinthe, the participants will explore a brand-new route featuring Lake George, Lake Champlain, the Adirondacks and the Richelieu River.

The trip will start in Glens Falls, a friendly little town on the Hudson River. The travellers will then pass though a series of picturesque towns and villages, while benefiting from the incomparable support provided by the Grand Tour team. After this incursion into the United States, they will cross the border to follow the Upper Richelieu and make their way to Saint-Hyacinthe.

In addition to enjoying the stunning views, the travellers will have the pleasure of riding on exceptionally well maintained roads and of selecting from among a variety of routes allowing them to cycle at their own pace and at their preferred level of difficulty.

“This route has the advantage of offering various options. The most avid cyclists can choose to ride over 100 kilometres per day and to tackle some challenging climbs. Touring cyclists, who prefer to take the time to explore the regions visited, will also be delighted with the selection of less demanding routes studded with numerous tourist attractions,” explains Joëlle Sévigny, Executive Director of Vélo Québec Événements and Vélo Québec Voyages.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to explore the joys of cycling south of the 49th parallel and on magnificent routes that will expand your horizons! Since participants have the option of camping or sleeping under hotel covers, and of riding for six days or for three, the Grand Tour is accessible to everyone. You may register by telephone at (514) 521-8356 or 1-800-567-8356, or on line at www.explorebybike.com.

The event is a production of Vélo Québec Événements and its travel agency, Vélo Québec Voyages, which organizes trips for over 6,000 cyclists every year, in North America and overseas. In addition to bicycle tourism events such as the Grand Tour, the agency offers more than sixty exclusive bicycle trips designed by its team of travel professionals.

Vélo Québec Événements and Vélo Québec Voyages form a non-profit corporation that is a division of Vélo Québec, which also includes Vélo Québec Association and Vélo Québec Éditions.
