February 10/10 16:02 pm - Canadian Track Camp - Day 3

Day three of the CCA track camp in LA had the athletes doing whistle drills.

“They were short accelerations in the aero bars. This used a whole new set of muscles,” commented Stephen Meyer who returned from Germany last week where he competed in his first 6-Day race with Jacob Schwingboth. “We are taking advantage of video analysis to work on our aero positions.”

Charly Vives, the 2009 Canadian National Champion in the individual pursuit, is having a great time at the camp. “We are doing some good and hard training sessions and having fun at the same time. Some of us rode with some young kids of 9 years old yesterday and it brought back some old memories!”

The Canadian sprinters who are hoping to be going to Worlds in March have made LA their training base for the month of February, and shared some track time with the endurance guys. They did 200m drills followed by a match sprint tournament with some very close finishes.

The camp will continue until February 11th, giving the cyclists some more time to figure out why Alex Cataford is always riding with 2 different socks - one short, one long or one black, one white ... the mystery continues.

Videos have been uploaded on to the CCA YouTube channel as well, www.youtube.com/canadiantrackcycling.
