After 18 years of challenging the spring thaw the annual Uxbridge Icebreaker has been cancelled for 2010. With increased costs associated with the event, declining participation and new challenges taken on by the organizer the event has been taken off the Ontario cycling calender. With only 170 cyclists taking up the challenge in 2009 it was time to give the event a break.
The iceman would like to thank all those brave riders who supported the event throughout the snowy, icy and sometimes muddy years. The tradition of breaking the ice on a new season will be taken up at the Durham Forest MTB Race Series. Join us for the Icebreaker Memorial Race Night on April 15th at the Durham Forest weekly series, wear your classic Icebreaker T-shirts and share your stories of past experiences.
