February 13/10 13:29 pm - Tour Mediterraneen: Stage 4 neutralized

Posted by Editoress on 02/13/10

The fourth stage of the Tour Méditerranéen was neutralized because of the risk caused by freezing rain.

Shortly after Saint-Paul-en-Forêt (km 114) the race was stopped on the recommendation by the Alpes-Maritimes department . At that time there were three riders involved in an escape: John Faris (Cofidis), Jonathan Thiré (Bigmat) and Dominique Cornu (Skil) with a gap of  1:15 ahead of the peloton.

An improvised finish line was set up and the 3 leaders were allowed to sprint.  The results were not added to the overall so there is no change to the GC.

1 Julien El Fares (Fra) Cofidis, Le Credit en Ligne
2 Jonathan Thire (Fra) Big Mat - Auber 93
3 Dominique Cornu (Bel) Skil - Shimano

Note:  the only Canadian entrant, Christian Meier (Garmin Slipstream) did not start today due to a bad cold.
