Will Routley's (edited) report after the 3rd stage

I can't even describe how wrecked I am. On day 3!!!!!!!!! Today was 235 km of biking, 225 of racing and some neutral. and it was all attacking!! the whole  thing! We got into a killer break right at the start for about 40 km, and we were hamering cuz it was 20 guys, and we had Mike Keil and myself. But these guys... such negative racing, guys just get in the break, then after a few min start sitting on, frustrating. There is always somebody willing to chase it down. Gad!

So then it was a ton more attacking, there were guys up the road for the first KOM so we missed the points on that, and it was back together for the second KOM and I went for it, got 3rd, so got some points and held the jersey for another day. (so that is good)

After that 100 km of more attacking.  Mike and I got in a real dangerous break at about 60 km to go, and we just drilled it, but again guys were negative and it started coming back together.

At about 20 km to go we were really close to getting caught so I went solo, and did a TT effort for about 15 km, but got caught at 6 or 7 km to go.  After this I did a mega hard bonk in the last couple minutes of the day. So hard!

I gotta do an easy day one of these days because this is insane. But hey, if the chase at the end HAD messed around at all behind me, or hesitated just a little bit I would have won the stage solo, so you gotta take a chance right?

What a long day! When I did the podium for the KOM I had my pockets filled with Jelly Bellies and threw them out to a bunch of people when i was called up, pretty funny.

So, after all that mental hard work, no better GC position and no stage win, but we did hold the KOM and we did put ourselves in position to win, all you can do I guess.
