August 18/10 9:10 am - Youth Olympics: Men's ITT results, MacDonald 9th

Posted by Editoress on 08/18/10

Results from the Men's Individual Time Trial in Singapore.

Ryan MacDonald finished 9th in his first event at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. He was 12 seconds back of the winner, Rafael Ferreira Reis of Portugal.

This represents a good performance by this young cyclist who was called up at the last minute to replace his injured friend, Stuart Wight. "I'm really happy with how I did, as a 3 km strength course is not really my thing... I'm also happy because I know I definitely have a shot at the road race;" said the Canadian Road Race Champion.  Ryan will compete again on Sunday in the final cycling event of the games, the men's road race.

The Youth Olympic Games being a team competition, Canada now sits in 7th position for the cycling competition, equal with Denmark with 92 points. Italy currently leads this competition with 38 points.
