Nova Scotia Provincial Individual Time Trial Championship on Sunday August 22nd in Windsor NS


Bicycle Nova Scotia wrapped up the road racing season, crowning the Individual Time Trial Champions. The event was hosted by Breakaway Cycling Promotions and is sanctioned by Bicycle Nova Scotia and the Canadian Cycling Association. Officiating the race were commissaires Lawrence Plug (chief,) Kristina Hawkins and Eric Weaver. Competitions were held in several categories over distances of either 40 or 25 kilometers.

Garrett McLeod, racing for H&R Block won the A Category with an average speed of 43.02 kph, covering the 40 kilometer distance in a time of 55:47. Lorenzo Caterini of Hub Cycle, Truro was second in 58:15, while Jeff Muise of Sea Level Cycling in Yarmouth took the bronze in 1:01:04.

The gold medal in the women's category went to Kaarin Tae of Bicycles Plus, Bedford, averaging 35.75 kph in a time of 1:07:08. Her teammate, Cynthia Fry was second in 1:09:09, while independent racer, Suzanne Fougere was third in 1:21:53.

The B Category went to Rob Klue of Cyclesmith in Halifax, in a time of 1:01:50. Stephen Cameron also racing for Cyclesmith took silver in 1:01:57, and independent racer Andrew Peacock was third at 1:02:15.

Wayne Aspinall of Valley Stove & Cycle, Wolfville is the champion in the C Category, covering 40 kilometers in 1:06:59. George Henley of Bicycles Plus won silver in 1:08:29, and the bronze went to Derrick Muise of Sea Level Cycling with a time of 1:10:38.

The novice D and Youth Categories races were 25 kilometers. Jordan Oakley is the Under 15 champion in a time of 49:48. The Under 17 champion is Senna Bryden at 51:32. Independent racer Stacey Taylor won the novice D Category in 47:20, followed by Matthew Bernard at 49:22 and Tracey Williams at 49:31.


Please note that only Bicycle Nova Scotia members qualify for medals in championship events. Racers marked as OEM (one event members) are given times and placings for the event only, and do not factor in the provincial results.
