September 7/10 12:29 pm - Commonwealth Games Velodrome Still Not Completed

It is less than a month until the Commonwealth Games get underway in New Delhi, India, and the velodrome is one of a number of facilities that have not yet been completed, according to reports from the The Times of India. The velodrome still requires a structural safety certificate, and may have suffered rain damage during rushed construction in the monsoon season.

"It was major source of worry because if the floor gets damaged, we can't have the event," HS Kingra, Sports Authority of India's special officer for infrastructure, told the Times of India. Construction fell behind schedule because the organizers decided to make the track out of concrete before being told that they had to stick to a wood track, as specified.
