Tour de la relève internationale de Rimouski's organizing committee is already at work to make the second event's edition, which will be held from July 14th to 17th, a success. The president of honour, the ambassadors and the members of the organizing committee have been confirmed, and the website has officially been launched. In short, preparation is going at a good pace.

Tour de la relève internationale de Rimouski, a stage race for male and female Cadets (15-16 years old) as well as for female Juniors (17-18 years old), is a perfect event for talent detection. The goal of this event is to prepare these athletes for international level competitions by offering them an experience similar to the Tour de France, but in a formula condensed to four days. From July 14th to 17th, Rimouski will welcome 160 young promising cyclists.

For a second consecutive year, Mr. Pierre Harvey has accepted to be the president of honour. It is without saying that Mr. Harvey's presence is a added value for the young cyclists, which are of course very excited at the idea of meeting a former Olympian. Moreover, Joanie Caron and Bruno Langlois, two riders from Rimouski who actually moved onto the international circuit, will contribute to the event's publicity.

For this second presentation of the Tour de la relève internationale de Rimouski, 40 teams will be allowed to register. Teams from Canada, United States, Brazil and Europe are expected in Rimouski, next July. In addition, the national junior women's team will make of this Tour its training camp before flying to Europe to represent Canada.

Tour de la relève internationale de Rimouski's 2011 edition official website is now online at www.tourdelareleve.ca. Invitation policy, registration form and volunteer application form are also available there. The website is an indispensable tool, especially for teams outside of Quebec. The registration process has been improved with the new platform. The Tour's stages are explained and pictures from the 2010 edition are online.

Each committee is presently working on evaluating and determining its needs. People interested in participating in one of the different sectors are invited to fill the volunteer application form, which can be found on the website. It is not mandatory to be available the whole duration of the event. Schedules will be established according to the availabilities identified by the volunteers on their application form.

The event’s organizing committee can count on the support of exceptional collaborators at the head of each committee: Mr. Yves Lévesque, finances director; Mr. Jacques Belzile, technical director; Ms. Josée Longchamps, participants services director; Ms. Annie Thivierge, communications director; Mr. Denis Blanchette, operational support director; Mr. Sylvain Brouillette-Paradis, volunteers director and Ms. Josée Robitaille, race director and radio-tour. Other persons will eventually join the team leading up to the event, including Mr. Mathieu Guimond, media relations coordinator.
