Always on the lookout for a new cycling experience, the Phoenix Velo Training Group has rediscovered the historic Langley Speedway as a race venue. Many old timers remember watching the stock cars on the 1/4 mile oval and some will recall training sessions with Ron Hayman.

Phoenix Velo is hosting an Omnium event on April 16th. Consisting of three massed start events for riders in five ability groups, riders will compete in a Scratch, Points and Elimination Race. Youth riders will contest Scratch and Elimination events. This promises to be a favorite event for friends and family, as the racing will always be in view.

The event is being held as a Cycling BC Club event so a Cycling BC citizens' license is required at minimum. Athletes coming from the US will need a UCI license. On-line registration is open at www.karelo.com, event details and schedule are at langleyspeedway.wordpress.com.

This new event shares the weekend with the first event of the BC Masters' Age Class road races. The Thunderbird Road race is in its third year and has a reputation as one of the favorite events on the Masters' calender. The rolling circuit is suitable for riders of any level of fitness and ability.

These events are open to any rider over the age of 30 and is contested as a Australian Pursuit. Membership in the BC Masters is not required, and a one day membership is available. Riders must have a Cycling BC Citizens' license at minimum.

Go to www.bcmasterscycling.net for series information and langleyracer.wordpress.com for specific event information. Online registration is at www.karelo.com. We have arranged for RV parking for Saturday night at the Thunderbird Show Park at $30 per unit.
