MIVA Tuesday Criterium on the Boxwood Circuit, Nanaimo BC on April 26th

Due no doubt to the Canucks – Chicago game 7, attendance at  at last night's race was sparse. However, nine riders did show on what turned out to be an ideal night.

After the opening neutral laps, the senior bunch settled down to a steady pace, livened up by a couple of early primes, which were taken by Lionel Space from Ladysmith. However, after the halfway point of the thirty minutes plus five lap event, the group split and the lead trio of Mike Sevcov, Simon Tremblay and Mark Wieler gradually pulled away from the remnants of the bunch, which, in turn, split further, with Rob Bau and Kyle Waring leaving Space to carry on to the finish alone.

The final prime, with four laps to go, was won by Sevcov who just edged Tremblay on the line.

At the finish, it was Simon Tremblay again beating Mike Sevcov, with Wieler at 5 seconds.

In the novice race, Brodie Hay and mother, Charlene, stayed together for the entire event, with each taking an intermediate prime and Charlene handily beating Brodie for the last prime and riding on alone to finish almost half a minute ahead of her son.

Thanks to all the volunteer help in course set up/take down and marshaling.
